The project “Präventionskette Neufreimann” aims to ensure that children and young people grow up healthy and well. For this purpose, professionals jointly develop programs and activities in the areas of health, education, and social services – for and with children, young people, and their families.
In Munich, the establishment of “Präventionsketten” is considered right from the start when large new development areas are planned. This is also the case with the development of the new district Neufreimann.
On the former site of the Bayernkaserne in the northern Munich district of Schwabing-Freimann, 15,000 new Munich residents are expected to move in by 2030. On the 50-hectare ground under municipal ownership, approximately 4,200 primarily subsidized rental housing units will be built by the municipal housing company Münchner Wohnen and cooperatives. The Sedlmayer Group AG is planning a further 1,125 apartments on the site east of the municipally owned site. A variety of social, educational, and community-oriented facilities are also planned.
Further details on the district development can be found here neufreimann.de and at stadt.muenchen.de

For the development of the Präventionskette Neufreimann the urban development framework implies that…
- …. children and young people with their families enjoy moving around in the district und feel safe during the construction phase of at least 10 years
- …. all children and their families should have as many opportunities as possible to encounter others in their neighbourhood
- … young people feel welcome in their neighbourhood and in the neighbouring districts
- … and last but not least, professionals supporting healthy child development network closely to strengthen newly arrived in challenging life phases.
In the first project your (September 2024 to August 2025) it is planned…
… to communicate the approach of Präventionsketten within existing committees such as the REGSAM network, a district round table, district management, District Committee, among others
- …to lay the basis for life-phase-specific working groups of professionals from Freimann and Neufreimann during a joint kick-off event with REGSAM in February 2025.“
- … to offer new residents a welcome message in spring 2025 that provides orientation for a good and healthy development in Neufreimann
- … starting in summer 2025, in close coordination with cooperation and networking partners, we will develop the first “products” that can support (early) childhood development and the perspectives of young people – relating to all that Neufreimann and the surrounding neighbourhoods have to offer
